Frequently Asked Questions

If I attend a peer support group, do I have to speak?

Absolutely not. Feel free to just come and listen.

What happens at a peer support meeting?

After a brief formal introduction, the group sets the path for the conversations to follow. We do not follow an agenda or bring a topic for the evening.

Do you offer a zoom option for the peer support groups?

No, our peer support groups are in-person only. We believe the best way for someone to gain support is through a personal connection which can not be felt the same way through a screen. If we found there was a need for a zoom support group – we would definitely look into it. So, feel free to send a message with what you’re looking for.

Why should I attend a peer support group?

Attending a peer support group can help build a sense of belonging as well as build a connection with others who are like you. It gives you a chance to build meaningful peer relationships which can reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. It also gives you access to individuals with shared experiences who also may have resources you never knew about.

Are you a trained mental health professional?

No, I’m a first responder peer with 24 years of active service who has been diagnosed with severe C-PTSD and someone who has lost 5 friends (all first responders) to suicide.

I’m a clinician who focuses on trauma, what can I do?

We love to build connections with clinicians (who focus on first responders and/or PTSD) that would love to connect or help out. You share the same passion for first responder mental health as we do! Send us a message and we would love to see how we can work together.
